Calling all ultrasound-interested medical students across Canada!

SaskSonic and the Usask Ultrasound student interest group will be hosting our second annual Sono Symposium (SASKSONO17) on Saturday, April 8th, 2017. This conference will be CPD accredited and is a great way to earn credits while enjoying an inspiring day of Clinical Ultrasonography (aka Point of Care Ultrasound).

The day will include stimulating and state of the art talks from Canadian physicians who use clinical ultrasonography daily. There will also be time for questions, refreshments and networking opportunities. New this year, there will be hands-on scanning workshops for everyone attending the conference with focused scans taught by experts in the ultrasound field.

After lunch we’ll be hosting lightning oral abstracts on research – a great opportunity to see what has been done and where POCUS research is heading. If you have conducted research on ultrasound you are welcome to submit your research paper for presentation consideration at the conference.

Then in the afternoon we’re off to the SonoGames! This interactive, audience inclusive session will feature 3 competing teams battling it out for the prestigious Sono Cup! Expect to see, and engage in, image interpretation, image generation assessment, and some other “surprise” skill challenges! So far Usask is the undisputed champion of the SonoGames, so which other schools are going to step up to the challenge?  Each team consists of 2 pre-clerkship medical students, a clerkship medical student, and a wild card (physician, resident, sonographer etc).  Would you like to take the challenge and battle it out for the Sono Cup?

If this sounds like a fantastic day and you’re interested in attending the symposium or being involved in the research presentations or sonogames contact our student interest group Usask Ultrasound  at UofSus@gmail.com or Usask’s Point of Care Ultrasound program at sasksonic@gmail.com. More information will be provided at a later date, along with information on how to register.

Come for the whole day, or come and go as needed – it promises to be a great day of POCUS education and inspiration!
