[acc-trig title=”Do you feel that your choice of electives had any impact on your CaRMS match? If yes, please give a brief description?”]
[acc-begin]

I did somewhat random electives at my school of choice, but not in the specialty I wanted. However, in my other electives, I treated family med like any other specialty and devoted a lot of elective time to it.

[acc-trig title=”What did you do with your Med 1 and Med 2 summers? (i.e. exposures, research, etc…)”]
[acc-begin]

I did early exposures in Med 1 summer and Home for the Summer in Med 2.

[acc-trig title=”What was the best piece of advice you received while going through the match process?”]
[acc-begin]

Take time to reflect on the events that have shaped you in life and in medical school. Better yet, keep a journal as you go through clerkship, because it can be easy to forget all of the things you see.

[acc-trig title=”What was the most valuable lesson or experience you had while going through the match process? Can you describe this?”]
[acc-begin]

Be yourself. It was most calming to me to remember that I was also assessing the school/program to see if it met my own standards. Being true to yourself and knowing what you want in a program demonstrates confidence and insight.

[acc-trig title=”If you could go back and change anything during pre-clerkship or clerkship, what would you change?”]
[acc-begin]

I wish I had plucked up the courage to ask more of my preceptors for reference letters during core rotations. I left it all to electives, which ended up being really stressful.

[acc-trig title=”What did you do in your four years of medical school that you found to be the most helpful during the CaRMS process?”]
[acc-begin]

I pursued what I am passionate about, both within and outside of med school.
