Strengthening Family Medicine – Prescription for Primary Care.Description and/or Objectives: Family medicine is foundational to an effective health care system, yet in Canada we see this foundation compromised by rising complexity and administrative burden. This workshop will reinforce the critical importance of family physicians, describe the challenges they face and suggest solutions for policy makers across the country. A stronger family medicine means a better functioning system for all who work in it as well as for the patients it serves.Presenter Bio: Artem Safarov is the Director of Health Policy and Government Relations at the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Through his advocacy and research work in the health sector he is proud to support the central role of primary care in Canadian health care and the foundational importance of family doctors in primary care. Artem’s work has centered around health system performance, patient-centered equity, digital interoperability, team-based care as well as ensuring sustainable and appealing family medicine careers.
