Geriatric Skills Night

The Geriatric Interest Group is holding a 4-station skills night to help brush up on clinical skills that are important to consider in older adults! These skills are essential to have when working with elderly patients, impress your preceptors!

Station 1: Wound Care!

Learn about the aging process of skin, and the special attention that aged skin needs when caring for wounds. Practice wound care on stimulated model.

Station 2: Osteoporosis and other degenerative bone diseases of the elderly

Osteoporosis has substantial morbidity implications in older adults. Learn about pertinent history and clinical exam findings relating to osteoporosis.

Station 3; Blood Pressure Measurements in the Elderly

Learn how to take a proper blood pressure to assess orthostatic hypotension! An extremely important skill to have going into clerkship!

Station 4: Geri Rehab

Learn about Geri Rehab programming, fall risk assessments, how to properly guide patients using mobility aids, and how to safely transfer elderly patients in a hospital setting.
