[acc-trig title=”Do you feel that your choice of electives had any impact on your CaRMS match?”]
[acc-begin]

I did the majority of my electives in general surgery and related specialities. That is likely very contributory to matching that speciality

A mixture of research and early exposures

[acc-trig title=”What was the most valuable lesson or experience you had while going through the match process?”]
[acc-begin]

Stay in the interview mode the whole time. People are watching you the whole time even while you are not in the interview.

[acc-trig title=”If you could go back and change anything during pre-clerkship or clerkship, what would you change?”]
[acc-begin]

Nothing

[acc-trig title=”What did you do in your four years of medical school that you found to be the most helpful during the CaRMS process?”]
[acc-begin]

I think successfully matching to general surgery requires a combination of networking extensively with general surgeons from my school, maxing out electives in general surgery, and participating in general surgery research during my spare time and summer. Being an excellent student, showing up on time, being pleasant etc. also very important.
