CMA Election for President Elect Nominee

As medical students residing in Manitoba, we are all eligible to vote in the CMA Election for the President Elect Nominee. We reached out to the candidates and asked them to answer the following questions. Their responses and platforms are below!

  3. What are the biggest issues that face students and their future in the medical profession? What would you do to address these issues?

About the CMA President-Elect Nominee Election

The following is taken from the CMA Website:

Members of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) in Manitoba will be electing their nominee for the position of CMA President-Elect for 2017-18 early in the new year. The successful Manitoba nominee will be presented for election as CMA President-Elect at the CMA’s Annual Meeting and General Council, to be held in Quebec City, August 20 to 23, 2017. The CMA President-Elect will then become CMA President at the following Annual Meeting and General Council to be held in Winnipeg in August 2018.

Voting ballot package mailed: Thursday, January 26, 2017

Start of the voting period: Wednesday, February 1, 2017

Close of election: Wednesday, February 22, 2017, midnight (EST)

How to Vote

Nominee announcement

Ballots will be counted and the nominee will be declared on February 23, 2017. The nominee for President-Elect nominee elected by CMA members from Manitoba will be presented for election by delegates at the General Council of the CMA set for Aug 21-23, 2017 in Québec City, QC.
