Rich Man Poor Man Dinner

The Global Health Interest Group (GHIG) will be hosting our annual student-run Rich Man Poor Man (RMPM) fundraising dinner on Thursday, February 2nd, 2017 in the Brodie Atrium! Cocktails will be served at 5:30pm, with speakers and dinner beginning at 6:00pm.
This year we are supporting Agape Table, a local charity providing emergency and low-cost meals as well as a subsidized grocery program to those in need. The evening will feature speakers that work in areas of food security in order to highlight this issue in our community and around the world. All proceeds from ticket sales and silent auction will go directly to Agape Table.
Attendees will be seated at tables of eight, with one person served what we call, a “Rich Man” meal, while the other seven people will be served a “Poor Man” meal. The decision on who receives which type of meal is based purely on chance, simulating real life. New this year is an “around-the-world” theme where each table will represent a different country. The country will remain secret until the event has started, but expect to learn new things about a country you may not have visited before!
In addition to dinner, there will be a silent auction and cash bar. Winners will be announced at the end of the evening.
In hosting this event, we are hoping to not only raise funds for a worthwhile cause but also to raise awareness about poverty and food security. By highlighting the imbalance of resources seen in our own city and by illustrating the challenges that individuals in poverty face, we hope to inspire dialogue, a new way of thinking, and hopefully some action.

There is also an option to donate to the cause without attending the event if you are unable to attend but would still like to contribute!
