Students in all years have the opportunity to be awarded for their efforts on and off campus. From academic leadership to volunteerism, the Max Rady College of Medicine strives to highlight students that give back to their peers and their communities.

UGME Awards

Dr Alan Lip­son Memo­r­i­al Award in Medicine

Pre­sent­ed to a stu­dent who has demon­strat­ed par­tic­i­pa­tion and lead­er­ship through vol­un­teer and extracur­ric­u­lar activ­i­ties, either in the Max Rady Col­lege of Med­i­cine or the com­mu­ni­ty at large. Appli­ca­tions are reviewed by a Selec­tion Com­mit­tee named by the Dean of Max Rady Col­lege of Med­i­cine. The suc­cess­ful appli­cant is noti­fied in advance and pre­sent­ed the award at the annu­al White Coat Inau­gur­al Cer­e­mo­ny held in August each year.

Our 2024 recip­i­ent is Ms. Cha­ran­preet Kaur.

Cana­di­an Med­ical Hall of Fame Award

Lau­re­ates of The Cana­di­an Med­ical Hall of Fame cite qual­i­ties such as per­se­ver­ance, col­lab­o­ra­tion and an entre­pre­neur­ial spir­it as con­trib­u­tors to their suc­cess as nation­al and world health lead­ers. Sup­port­ed by indi­vid­ual donors, The Cana­di­an Med­ical Hall of Fame Award seeks to rec­og­nize med­ical stu­dents who demon­strate these qual­i­ties and who show out­stand­ing poten­tial as future lead­ers and inno­va­tors of health care in Cana­da. Offered to stu­dents com­plet­ing Med II.

About Me
I’m Charanpreet Kaur, a medical student who enjoys keeping our community connected and informed. I’m passionate about clear communication and making sure students have access to the information and updates they need.

 

My Role at MMSA
As Senior Communications Representative for the 2024–25 academic year, I manage and maintain MMSA’s website and social media platforms. My responsibilities include approving interest group events, creating and publishing content, and ensuring our posts are accurate and engaging. I also take detailed minutes during council meetings and distribute them, along with e-motions, to keep everyone updated.

About Me
I’m Tooba Razi, a medical student deeply committed to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in healthcare and medical education. I believe in tackling systemic issues collaboratively and ensuring that marginalized voices are represented in the decision-making process.

 

My Role at MMSA
As Vice Stick EDI Senior for the 2024–25 academic year, I oversee working groups revising the curriculum, serve as a voting member on the Admissions Committee, and sit on the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences EDI Committee. I also assist in planning the annual EDI Conference alongside the Global Health Liaisons and contribute to the Doctors Manitoba Speaker Series. At the national level, I represent Manitoba students at CFMS EDI roundtables, collaborating with peers across Canada. My focus is on creating lasting, systemic improvements and ensuring that student perspectives drive this important work.
