Mandy Fraser, from Klinic will be joining us for a lunch-time session on human trafficking. Mandy is the the project coordinator for the Manitoba Human Trafficking hotline (a phone help/information line available for the general public and providers). She is also the coordinator for the Dream Catcher’s program at Klinic, a support group for women and transgender individuals who are transitioning out of the sex trade.
Note: because the Med1 and Med2 schedules have a different lunch hour this day we’ll be running separate small group sessions for Med1s and Med2s – each session will run 50 minutes:
Med1:
Date: May, 8, 2018
When: 12:00 – 12:50 pm
Where: TBA
Med2:
Date: May, 8, 2018
When: 1:00 – 1:50 pm
Where: TBA
Topics include:
– Discussing what signs we should be aware of suggesting a patient may be a victim of trafficking
– Discussing what barriers might exist for a victim of human trafficking seeking help (e.g. stigma and victim-blaming from healthcare providers, etc.) and what we can do to remove/reduce some of those barriers
– Discussing how to respond when we suspect a patient is a victim on human trafficking
Note: this is a brown-bag session (please bring your own lunch), but we’re providing cookies 🙂 !
