MMSA Interest Groups Application 2026 – 2027

You may apply to hold one academic group and one community group positions, a maximum of two positions in total.

Each group has two roles:

M1 Rep: a two-year commitment. You serve as M1 Rep this year and continue as an Executive of the same group in Med II.

Council member: a one-year commitment for this year only.

On the next two pages you'll rank up to five groups in each category and tell us which roles you'd accept. Rank honestly, similar to the CaRMS process, listing a group lower does not hurt your chances at the groups above it.

Applications close Wednesday, September 9 at 11:59pm. You can only submit once, so please ensure you're happy with your responses before submitting. If you need to change your application after submitting, email the Vice-Stick Internal at vsi.mmsa@umanitoba.ca.

You may select one or both. You can only hold one position in each.
Any leadership roles you've held - school, work, volunteering, sports, community. Tell us what you did and what came of it. If you don't have formal leadership experience, that's fine; tell us about a time you took initiative on something. This answer is shared with every group you apply to, so keep it general rather than writing about one specific group.

Academic Interest Groups

Rank up to five academic groups in order of preference. You'll be considered for both M1 Rep and council member at each one, based on your role preference below.

If you're not applying to academic interest groups, leave this section blank and continue to down to community interest groups.

Why this group, and what would you want to help organize this year?

M1 Rep is a two-year commitment and is open to Med I students only. Choosing "Either" means you'll be considered for both roles.

Almost done.

You can only submit once. Use the Back button to review your choices before submitting, after that, changes require emailing the Vice-Stick Internal Sr. and Jr. at vsi.mmsa@umanitoba.ca.

What happens next: groups review applications the week of September 9th and rank the students they'd accept. We'll try our best to reach out to students on September 21st as soon as matches are made. Once we reach out to you, you'll have 24 hours to accept or decline.

If I am selected as an M1 Rep, I understand this is a two-year commitment: I will serve as M1 Rep in Med I and continue as an Executive of the same group in Med II. Council member positions are one year only.
I understand I may hold a maximum of one academic and one community interest group position, and that submitting this form does not guarantee placement.
