[acc-trig title=”Which specialty did you match into? And where?”]
[acc-begin]

Anesthesia – University of Alberta

[acc-trig title=”At what point in medical school did you know what specialty you wanted to match into?”]
[acc-begin]

Med 1 – I had a great clinical reasoning mentor who was an anesthetist. I resonated with the way he thought about and worked through cases. My intention starting medical school was to be an obstetrician so make sure you stay open to all possibilities early on! 🙂

[acc-trig title=”Do you feel that your choice of electives had any impact on your CaRMS match?”]
[acc-begin]

Yes, I had anesthesia electives but also electives that would supplement anesthesia well such as emergency medicine, cardiac anesthesia, cardiac ICU and nephrology.

[acc-trig title=”What did you do with your Med 1 and Med 2 summers?”]

[acc-trig title=”What was the most valuable lesson or experience you had while going through the match process?”]
[acc-begin]

Relax, things will all work out in the end and we will all become doctors! We could all be great in various fields of medicine and prior to getting into medicine all we wanted was to be a physician.

[acc-trig title=”If you could go back and change anything during pre-clerkship or clerkship, what would you change?”]
[acc-begin]

Travel even more!

[acc-trig title=”What did you do in your four years of medical school that you found to be the most helpful during the CaRMS process?”]
[acc-begin]

Work hard and be yourself because everyday is a job interview for your future career.

[acc-end]

[acc-trig title=”Do you have any final words of wisdom or advice?”]
[acc-begin]

The days can be long but the years are short! Enjoy the ride and appreciate the patients, residents, nurses, allied health and attendings that put their trust in you.
